Care instructions
All jewellery requires care to maintain its beauty. Mel K Designs recommends the following:
-After wearing your piece wipe jewellery with a soft, non-abrasive cloth to remove acid and oil left from your skin.
-Never use abrasive substances such as detergents, acids or alcohol to clean your piece. Water can be used but ensure jewellery is dried thoroughly before storing as rusting and damage can occur.
-Avoid perfume, fake tan and hair spray when wearing your piece as these such toxic substances will cause damage and discoloration to jewellery.
-Remember Last On + First Off. Put jewellery on last so that it is not sprayed with perfumes and hairspray.
-Remove jewellery before sleeping, showering and swimming, to avoid accidental damage.
-Necklaces and bracelets are prone to catching and will break under pressure especially extra long pieces. Please take extreme care when wearing your piece.
Storage
-Pieces should be stored separately to avoid scratching. Mel K Designs recommends soft pouches.
-Items may dent under impact or pressure so please treat all jewellery with care.
-Avoid storing pieces in direct sunlight or extreme heat or cold.
Sterling Silver
-Sterling Silver pieces will tarnish when exposed to oxygen in the air however acid in the skin may prevent this reaction. One way to prevent tarnish is to wear your beautiful piece as often as possible.
-When layering, ensure you only wear your piece with other sterling silver items.
-After wearing your piece wipe it clean and store in a fabric bag, airtight where possible.
-Sterling Silver can be gently washed in warm water with a mild detergent. Jewellery should not be left to soak in water and to avoid damage and rusting it is important to thoroughly dry your silver immediately after washing.
