Breathable nail polish can improve the health of your nails as it allows moisture and natural oils to permeate through the polish to the nail bed. This means your nails can grow without the restrictions of non-breathable lacquers.
Beysis go to great lengths to test the quality of their polishes. To ensure the collection is breathable, samples of the nail polish are taken and tested according to ASTM D 3985 and ISO 15105-2 international standards. A film of the polish is placed inside a diffusion chamber which separates the top half of the chamber from the bottom. Oxygen then flows into the top half of the chamber and an oxygen-free carrier gas (i.e. nitrogen) flows into the bottom on the other side of the film. Testing reveals that oxygen passes through the polish at 69,700 cm3/m2/day which classifies Beysis nail polish as ‘very permeable’ under international standards.
